We’ve been working with Australia’s favourite ethical nail polish brand — Kester Black — for the past two years, including the substantial undertaking of evolving and repositioning their brand and packaging.
We embraced their legacy trademarks of bright, poppy colours and quirky styling to elevate the brand language and create strong graphic systems across print, packaging and digital marketing platforms.

The complete packaging overhaul embodies these qualities — contrasting vivid colour combinations, and showing off the introduction of a custom lettering pattern and wavy die-cut edges, to amp up the fun and surprise factor. The custom patterned liner playfully spells out the words 'Kester Black', while the scalloped edges used along the edges of boxes and envelopes mirror this loose, undulating attitude.

When designing the packaging for the Hyperreal lipstick range, we wanted to challenge the norm of more traditional cosmetic packaging, making the products stand out with their playful shape decals, matching the shade of the lippies. When in shop displays, you really see the delight of them as a set.

In line with the repositioning, we designed a suite of posters and digital marketing applications to instate and promote the new Kester Black brand.

The brand book was reinvigorated — Becoming a detailed and colourful expression of the Kester Black brand values and expanding product range.
